Bondhay Charity Golf Day
The first of 3 Charity golf days was held at Bondhay Golf Club near Worksop on Friday 11th April 2014. There was a great turn out for the event with 15 teams entering travelling from Huddersfield, Barnsley, Wigan, Liverpool, Rochdale, Newcastle and Nottingham.
The weather was very kind making it great conditions for golf, plus the course was in good condition for the time of year. All the teams enjoyed a bacon sandwich and coffee before heading off to the first tee. The  competition was Am-Am with 2 scores to count on the Par 4 and 5’s and 3 scores to count on the Par 3’s.
The scoring on the day reflected the difficulty of the course with only 1 team posting an under Par score for the format used. The winners were the reigning champions of the last years Charity day at Rufford Park Ian Helliwell, Dave Standing, Lee Ingram and Norman Roberts from Wigan with a score of 92 points, in second place with 83 points were Dave Mountford (Rochdale), Jack Holmes (Halifax), John Irvine (Blyth) and K Petch (Rochdale).
There were 2 nearest the pins on the day,on the 2nd hole won by Steve Tann (Longley Park), the 11th hole won By Lewis Eccles (Mansfield) and the longest drive won by Lee Ingram (Wigan). There was a raffle too on the day with many prizes shared amongst the golfers that raised £345 on the day.
The prizes were sponsored by Gene Fulton of CORPORATE GOLF COMPANY in Leicester and Stuart Walsh of GRIP PAR Ltd from St Helens, thanks go to both gentlemen who without their support the charity would not have made £1280 from the event.
A special thank you goes to BONDHAY GOLF CLUB who gave the charity a massively reduced green fee for the day. We were looked after by the staff who made the day run smoothly. A big thank you to Mike and Wendy Oxley for their help on the day but the last thank you goes to Chairperson of Trustees Cerise Booth who was left to organise the registration, raffle and tee offs after we all went out to play golf.
