Hi Everyone British Inclusive Golf are pleased to announce that we have now obtained FULL CHARITY STATUS our registration number is 1156142. This should now open new doors in the way corporate sponsors and grant applications. In the last 2 months we have been busy attending some open days that have highlighted our services to the many organisations that can benefit from hitting golf balls. We attended an open fun day on behalf Wakefield Down Syndrome support group held at Nostell Priory on Saturday March 22nd, we had over 100 people visit our stand and try golf using the new indoor/outdoor equipment we have purchased. It was very pleasing to see the delight on the Down Syndrome children and adults as they tried hitting the target, unfortunately we have no photographs as we need permission of each individuals, so we are waiting for the group to send us photos that we can use. We also attended an open day held by Federation of Disability Sport at Batley Tennis and Sports Center, here we had various disability groups from within Kirklees try our sessions and have now some great contacts for future sessions that we will be following up. In March we held our annual trip away, usually we go to Sandilands Golf Club but unfortunately the hotel attached to the golf club went into administration just before Xmas. Therefore we decided to change to North Shore Hotel in Skegness, 9 BIG members attended but only 8 actually played. On the first day we played a texas scramble with Dave Cooksley Snr, Dave Cooksley Jnr, Wendy Oxley and Mike Oxley winning with a score of 1 over Par. On day 2 we played an Am-Am with Billy Lloyd, Dave Cooksley Snr , Dave Cooksley Jnr and Cerise Booth winning with a score of 79 points. Day 3 saw a few people drop out through illness and too much golf as the windy conditions had taken their toll. The trip was a success and we have already pre-booked for 2015. April sees a very busy month with taster sessions at Ravensthorpe special school, Highfields day centre in Huddersfield and Enfield Down in Holmfirth already booking several sessions each.
We have a representative match at Ryburn Golf Club in Halifax against Halifax, Huddersfield and District Golf union Juniors on 20th April (Easter Sunday), this is the second year we have had this match B.I.G last year were given an honourable draw. This match is to highlight that people with a disability can compete against non disabled golfers using their CONGU handicaps. We are still looking for people to join us on 23rd to 25th June at Roxburghe Golf and Country club when 10-12 members of B.I.G will play against SDGP our scottish counterparts. All 3 days will be pairs of some kind with no individual play at all. If you are interested in playing the cost is £130 for golfers (subsidised) and £180 for non golfers then contact Kevin ASAP. All monies need to be paid by end of April to secure the price. Please watch the website for all our charity golf days, remember we can’t work without your support. Please encourage friends and family to join FREE through the website and support the charity golf days. Last thing Kevin Booth our National Coordinator is on a sponsored weight loss.
